california's Expanded Learning Opportunities Program

california's Expanded Learning Opportunities Program

The Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELO-P) provides funding for afterschool and summer school enrichment programs for transitional kindergarten through sixth grade. Twin Rivers’ Expanded Learning programs are open to all students in grades TK-6, aligned with California’s Expanded Learning Opportunities goals [EC Section 46120(g)(5)]. For students in grades 9-12, we offer additional opportunities at select sites through the After School Education and Safety (ASES) and After School Safety and Enrichment for Teens (ASSETs) programs.

“Expanded learning” means before school, after school, summer, or intersession learning programs that focus on developing the academic, social, emotional, and physical needs and interests of pupils through hands-on, engaging learning experiences. It is the intent of the Legislature that expanded learning programs are pupil-centered, results driven, include community partners, and complement, but do not replicate, learning activities in the regular schoolday and school year.

After School Safety and Enrichment for Teens

After School Safety and Enrichment for Teens

The After School Safety and Enrichment for Teens (ASSETs) program at Grant High School offers a welcoming space for students to explore, learn, and grow after school. Open to all grade levels, ASSETs provides a variety of engaging activities, including enrichment programs, for-credit and non-credit courses, academic mentoring, and personal development opportunities. Students are invited to join us to discover new interests, build skills, and connect with friends in a supportive environment.

In October 2024, students at Grant High School provided valuable feedback on various after-school activities they enjoy and would likely participate in. The survey was sent to all students enrolled at Grant High School for the 2024-2025 school year. Over 140 students responded, sharing insights that each participant could review and build upon. Activities were ranked based on votes and positive feedback, offering the Grant Expanded Learning Program a clear baseline to evaluate and enhance program offerings, aligning them more closely with student interests and needs.
